Steadily Down?

Posted under 2006, Weigh-Ins, eDiets - Feb 27th, 06 - No Comments

196.6.  Still a net gain from when I started eDiets, but a good trend.  I could live with losing two pounds a week.  I’m not even really using eDiets, although I try to remember to print out the plan so I don’t get caught without meal ideas.
Intuitive eating seems to be working.  I ate a [...]

Swimming

Posted under Plans and Goals, Uncategorized - Feb 22nd, 06 - No Comments

I ordered a new swimsuit, that hopefully fits.  I’m going to try to swim three times a week, starting with ten laps at a time.  My right leg is out of alignment, so I need to find a sports trainer, physical therapist, or chiropractor who can help me fix it.  I really want to run [...]

Setback

Posted under Uncategorized - Feb 20th, 06 - No Comments

This is exactly where my knee hurts. Last night, it froze while we were on our way home from KC.  OUCH!  This is not the first time I’ve had this problem, and it makes sense, because I overpronate (weight), have knock knees, and have other alignment issues.  I think I’m going to have to suck [...]

Intuitive Eating

Posted under 2006, Intuitive, Nutrition, Plans and Goals - Feb 15th, 06 - No Comments

Yesterday’s wellness class was really good. I hate that I have to rush away the minute it’s over (and even then, I get to work late… but it’s only three more weeks.)
We talked about mindfulness and intuitive eating. Something we could have talked about more was society’s message to us. We get such destructive messages. [...]

Obsession

Posted under 2006, Plans and Goals, Weigh-Ins - Feb 14th, 06 - No Comments

I’m so tired of obsessing about my weight, my body, my diet.  I’m tired of focusing on numbers that only get bigger, a waist that only gets bigger, clothes that get tighter…
I’m going to break myself of this bad and apparently useless obsession.
To start, I will only weigh myself once a week, on Mondays, for [...]

Hmmm, Diet

Posted under Health News, Nutrition - Feb 8th, 06 - No Comments

Low fat diet benefits might be overstated.  This does not mean low-fat diets are not good for you, but I think it does show that we are often sold a bill of goods when it comes to our health.  How can people sit in judgment of fat people like me when no one is really [...]

Various Thoughts

Posted under Uncategorized - Feb 6th, 06 - No Comments

This weekend, while out and about in St. Louis, I picked up a book called “Skinny Bitches.”  Unfortunately, it turned out to be a hysterical vegan screed filled with inaccuracies and urban legends (check Snopes, people!), but it did have some good points.  I’m not planning to go vegan until the human body stops requiring [...]

Anger

Posted under Health News - Feb 3rd, 06 - No Comments

While fit may trump fat, weight can still do harm.  I was going to blast this article based on the title, but I think I’ll wait until it’s no longer a rough draft.
My point was going to be a comment on the backlash against the idea that it’s okay to be a little heavier if you [...]
