I have decided I am going to try to lose just a few pounds, to get below 160 consistently. I really feel like I will run faster if I am lighter. I’m not dieting, though. I’m going to do a combination of cutting back on some of my treats (smaller soy lattes, only one Cherry Coke a day) and adding extra cardio in the form of rope skipping on BodyRock days. I’m also being more diligent about taking my dogs on a 1.5 mile walk on non-running days. My Blackie-dog, who is my running partner, has gained weight since we moved to Texas. She needs to lose a pound or two.
I’d love to do it completely by exercise, but I seem to be one of those lucky people who gets flulike symptoms from working out too hard, so I have to be careful. I lose almost a week every time I push it too hard. I’m trying to be diligent about taking my vitamins to try to help.
